Oak Lodge is a maintained community special school offering 165 day places for students aged between 11 - 19 who have a range of learning difficulties. In particular, the school offers a variety of teaching methods and interventions informed by our knowledge and understanding of autism, which has been developed over many years. More than 40% of students at Oak Lodge have a diagnosed Autistic Spectrum Condition or an associated pervasive developmental disorder.

We believe we are a school where ‘Every Child Matters’ and work hard to ensure that all members of the school feel safe and acquire a high level of self-esteem. Students can expect to study a modified relevant national curriculum at a level appropriate to their needs, with increased opportunities for the development of social and communication skills. Our staff are totally committed to providing the best possible education for the students in our care and are skilled at assessing each student’s individual level of development and then enabling them to fulfil their potential, regardless of their background or circumstances.
