Health & Safety Training for Design & Technology

We are able to provide Health & Safety training for the classroom use of some machine tools by special arrangement. Our courses are also available to schools and colleges outside the London Borough of Barnet.

Outreach Service;

We have several years of outreach experience in advising and supporting mainstream colleagues; particularly in the field of Autistic Spectrum Conditions and Down's Syndrome. We can also provide support in other aspects of special educational needs, including P-Scale assessment .

We can offer;

  • Initial awareness training of ASC (Autism Spectrum Conditions) and follow up practical training including TEACCH, PECS, Social Stories, comic strip illustrations and classroom strategies in both Primary and Secondary School settings
  • Advice and support to mainstream teachers and teaching assistants
  • Advice on how the pupil with ASC can access the curriculum effectively
  • Individual or small group staff training
  • Advice on liaison with parents and provision of resources for use in the home
  • Suggested activities for one to one or small group work with pupils
  • Social skills sessions
  • Provide information to support the Annual Review  of SEN process.
  • Behaviour management plans
  • Provision of resources including visual supports e.g. timetables, sequence charts, Social Stories
  • Advice on writing IEPs for pupils on Autistic spectrum.
  • We liaise with Speech and Language Therapists, CAMHS, Social Services, Paediatricians, Educational Psychologists and any other relevant professionals regularly so can provide advice.
  • Provide information on respite and out of school activities run in Barnet for those pupils with a statement of Special Educational Needs
  • Advice on the assessment process for those pupils who require the use of Alternative Augmentative Communication Devices
